Fr Bill was educated at Union College (BA; Phi Beta Kappa, summa cum laude), the University of St. Andrews (Scotland), the University of Vermont (MA), Middlebury College (MA), and Harvard University, where he did advanced graduate study in Classical Philology and read Divinity.. He has taught a variety of subjects in public schools in four different states, had a career in advertising, marketing, and public relations, and on-camera television; was Director of Corporate Communications and Crisis Management/North America for Lufthansa German Airlines, and represented the German government in international business development in the UK, Poland, USSR, former East Germany, and the US. He and his wife Anne have two grown sons (Craig & Dillon), and dogs and cats. His hobbies include cooking, classical music, 70’s Rock, NASCAR, amateur railroad archaeology, and being on the lookout for unintentional humor. He will celebrate his 77th birthday on February 20, 2026.
Fr Bill’s maternal grandfather, The Rev David A Craig Sr, graduated from New York University and Union Theological Seminary (where he was a friend and classmate of Harry Emerson Fosdick); Fr Bill considered a similar path, but chose to pursue graduate study in the Classics and German instead. He became an Episcopalian in the mid-70’s at St Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral in Burlington, VT, where he was a lay staff member charged with supervision of Arts and Communication while being a frequent Sub-
Deacon and officiant. Subsequently he served in similar positions at The Episcopal Church of the Advent, Boston, working closely with the Rector, Richard Holloway. Similar activity followed at St Andrews Episcopal Church, St Batholomew’s Episcopal Church, St Luke’s Episcopal Church, and St Phillip’s Episcopal Cathedral in Atlanta, GA; St John’s Episcopal Church, LI, NY; and St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Tampa, FL.
Fr. Bill was first ordained as Priest in the Ecumenical Catholic Communion on the Feast of the Epiphany, 2014. While currently in semi-retirement, Fr Bill directs The Body of Christ: A Worshiping and Serving Community (501 c3), including “pop-up” Eucharists around the greater TPA/STP area.
